The 5 Best Skincare Gifts for Mother’s Day

Ok, I love the Avengers as much as the next guy, but let’s face it, there is no superhero out there like a mom. Sure, I never met a mom who was bitten by a radioactive spider, or who could shrink herself to the size of an ant, but moms have their own incredible superpowers that save the day, every day. Half of the universe would for sure be destroyed (by Thanos… any Avengers fans still with me?) if it wasn’t for moms.

Mother’s Day is a special day that is all about them, and what better way to show our love and appreciation than an indulgent (in quality, not necessarily price!) skincare gift — so that Mom can treat herself. Since we can’t gift Mom an infinity stone (yes, still sticking with the Avengers references), here are the 5 best skincare gifts for Mother’s Day:

1. Rose Quartz Facial Roller by Angela Caglia

Angela Caglia is a celebrity facialist, and I attended her masterclass last month in NYC. She has a gorgeous skincare line of clean, luxurious products, and is the creator of the stunning Rose Quartz Goddess Face Mask. This mask is literally made entirely of rose quartz and looks like the most elegant, soothing, relaxing and rejuvenating product that exists. It has quite a high price tag ($350), but Angela also sells gorgeous rose quartz facial rollers that look divine.

I know there’s a debate out there as to whether or not facial rollers do anything/are worth the price, but Angela explained in the masterclass (and on her website), that this rose quartz roller can help cool and soothe the face. She explained that rose quartz is a naturally cool stone, so while you can put it in the fridge, you don’t have to — the roller will still be cool and soothing at room temperature. Using face rollers correctly can help drain lymph nodes which reduces puffiness. (Angela explains how she uses face rollers in this video). You can also heat up the roller by putting it in warm water, and use the warmth to help products like serums penetrate the skin.

She recommends using two rollers at the same time, so you could get 2 for Mom! That gets to be a bit pricey, but Angela is offering 20% off her rose quartz face rollers on her website with code MOTHERSDAY. Thanks, Angela! :)

2. Facial Spray

Nothing says “I love you, Mom” more than a gift Mom can throw in her bag that will keep her refreshed and feeling great all throughout the day. I love facial sprays for that very reason, and Mom will, too. Feeling tired? Skin feeling dull? Dehydrated? With just a few little spritzes, you immediately feel refreshed, moisturized and ready to continue tackling your day. Face mists can also be used as a toner before serums and moisturizers or on top of makeup as a setting spray.

I have two favorite face sprays, and couldn’t narrow it down to just one… but they do have very different price points, so depending on your budget, I’d recommend either the Caudalie Beauty Elixer or the Mario Badescu Facial Spray with Aloe, Herbs and Rosewater.

The Caudalie Beauty Elixer is $49 (you can get it at Sephora or Macys) has the most incredible smell of any beauty product I’ve used. It’s therapeutic scent comes from mint, rose and rosemary essential oils. A few spritzes of this, and I feel like I’ve just walked out of the spa. (FYI, there’s a mini size available for $18, which I would definitely recommend if you want to try it out).

The Mario Badescu Facial Spray with Aloe, Herbs and Rosewater is also extremely refreshing and has a gorgeous scent of rose. Mario Badescu also makes a face spray with cucumber and green tea, which a lot of people like, but I love the idea of getting mom something “rose”-related on Mother’s Day (I also personally prefer the scent of the rosewater spray). This spray is only $7 at Sephora (!!!), or you can get a cute little limited edition package that also includes the Rose Lip Balm on the Mario Badescu website for $15.

3. YSL Lipstick

Yves Saint Laurent is the definition of luxury and beauty, and while most of us probably can’t afford to get Mom a YSL handbag this Mother’s Day, we can still gift her something luxurious and gorgeous with that designer label. In my opinion, YSL lipsticks are the absolute best lipsticks on the market. They all sit somewhere in the $35-$40 range (it is Yves Saint Laurent, after all), but one application feels like you are placing a layer of silk across your lips. They are so hydrating, smell amazing, and have a stunning color payoff that lasts a very, very long time. You can browse all of their lipsticks on the YSL website. They are also available at Sephora. Is it an expensive lipstick? Yes. Will Mom absolutely love it? Definitely.

4. Sol Janeiro Brazilian Bum Bum Cream

Despite the name, this moisturizing cream is not just for your bum bum. It is an all-over body cream that has the most incredible smell of any moisturizer I’ve ever used. The website describes the scent as “pistachio and salted caramel,” but to me it smells like a yummy cocktail you’d order at the beach. With caffeine-rich Guaraná extract, cupuaçu Butter, açaí oil, and coconut oil, this cream is meant to visibly tighten the appearance of skin, and it absorbs so quickly, so you aren’t left with any greasiness. With over 2600 five-star reviews on the Sephora website, Mom is sure to love this bum bum gift.

5. Fresh Lotus Preserve Rescue Mask

Fresh+Lotus+Youth+Preserve+Rescue+Mask+and+a+dog

Sephora describes this face mask as a “five-minute facial in a jar that targets dull, rough, and uneven skin for a smoother, brighter complexion.” For the mom on the go that doesn’t necessarily have time to go to a spa on the reg, this is the perfect gift. It’s the perfect excuse for Mom to take at least 5 five minutes just for herself, and she’ll immediately feel refreshed and rejuvenated. It is the most hydrating face mask I’ve tried, and leaves a natural, dewy glow. It also smells absolutely gorgeous. The full size is a little pricy ($62 at Sephora), but there is a cute little mini jar for $25 that Mom will love just as much.
